Monkey Paw Alpha® Winter Gloves

Our solution to cold hands. A breathable, water-repelling softshell combines with Polartec® Alpha® insulation and Italian Super Roubaix cuffs to provide extremely warm, yet low bulk, protection against the very worst that winter can throw at you.

We know what it’s like to have winter spins become a misery due to freezing fingers. If it’s not the cold interfering with your ability to brake or shift gears, it’s the bulky gloves promising to protect you from it. Enter the Monkey Paw Alpha® Gloves. Designed to bring winter smiles, we’ve selected three incredible fabrics to achieve the highest dexterity-to-warmth ratio down to below freezing temperatures.

The foundation of the glove is Polartec’s Alpha, a highly advanced insulation specifically tailored to active use. Far warmer than its weight and thickness suggest, the lofted fibres provide superb breathability to ensure dry, warm hands during both intense efforts and recovering periods. It’s also produced from 100% Recycled P.E.T. Plastic.

A windproof, water-resistant soft-shell forms the outer layer, treated with DWR for additional wet weather protection. Low-profile Italian Super Roubaix cuffs integrate with jacket sleeves to keep out the wind and eliminate skin exposure, without the addition of extra bulk or kit destroying velcro.

The palm is printed with a durable silicon echoing the natural lines and contours of the hand, supplying grip and control in all conditions. Both the thumb and index finger tips are sewn with conductive material so you never have to remove your gloves to capture those views.

About Polartec® Alpha®Active Insulation
Alpha® was originally invented for the U.S. special forces. They required a superior insulation system for extreme temperature variations and the start-stop conditions of combat. Alpha® active insulation was engineered for consistent warmth, while allowing greater breathability during activity. This military use case also makes it perfect for cycling in the cold, when you want to avoid overheating on climbs while staying warm during descents and recovery.

This patented, adaptive quality is made possible through Alpha’s lofted fibers connected to a solid mesh core. The fleecy element traps warm air, providing the insulation, while the mesh keeps the insulation in place. And since Polartec® Alpha® is inherently hydrophobic, it resists all moisture and dries incredibly fast.

On top of all this, it’s got great eco credentials as well, as it’s made from 100% recycled PET. That’s drinks bottles to you and me. Polartec repurposes 95 percent of its remnants from making its fabrics into other, lower value, products like flooring, mats and insulation. It’s bluesign and Oeko-Tex certified.
