(Not The) S/S2020 Launch
This isn't the blog post I was meant to be writing. This was meant to be the one telling you about all the great new products we've been developing over the winter and that we're now releasing for the new season. It was meant to be an announcement of the restocking of popular lines a lot of you have been patiently waiting for. It was meant be news of an exciting new collaboration we've been teasing for a year. It was meant to be a lot of things, but hey, very few us are where we'd planned to be right now. To be honest we're just happy to still be here, still doing what we do in whatever shape or form that may take.
As you probably know, our goods are made across a number of factories and fellow small family businesses across the UK and Europe. As the current pandemic moved across the continent, our partners rightly shut down production to stop the spread and protect their workers. We stalled our release plans, made our own preparations and concentrated on getting your orders fulfilled. To that end, our situation thankfully allowed us to keep operating with business (almost) as usual.
When lockdown started we turned our attention to creating positives out of the situation, producing free prints encouraging responsible bike riding, helping our junior ambassador with his #TourdeFrank2020 challenge and more recently, switching to face mask production to support key workers. Our sincere thanks to all who have supported and continue to support these efforts and help us make a difference. The generosity and positivity in our community has been overwhelming.
As we adjusted to the new normal, there was a tangible urge to also get back to doing a bit of what we normally do. Designing and producing great cycling apparel to make you smile is what we're all about and we wanted to see what could be done while still keeping everyone safe. We thought about what we and others are doing right now as bike riders under lockdown and what we had in development that could support that. We also thought of our local screen printer, still able to remain open safely as a one-man band, but with many usual events-based jobs cancelled. A plan emerged that would let us keep VC going, support another local business and get some new lines into production. Not the S/S 2020 launch, but maybe a bit of it. Hope you enjoy and are all keeping well.
Cheers + ride safe
The Out There Collection
Taking experience, features and details from our high performance road apparel, we developed Out There for durable comfort on all rides when smiles are prized above speed. Fun, versatile technical gear for gravel riding and outdoor adventures, styled for when the trails end. Ethically made, multifunctional unisex garments for everyday, everywhere, everyone.
In line with our organic cotton casuals, the Out There collection prioritises sustainability, utilising natural or recycled fabrics, saving resources and decreasing emissions to let you both look good and feel good about what you're wearing.
We have a lot of plans for this collection but for now we're pleased to launch these first pieces. They also happen to be ideal for lockdown, super comfy shirts and sweats the can move between sofa, WFH set-ups and head-clearing daily exercise.
Bamboo Gravel T-shirts
Perfect for on and off the bike, our premium quality gravel shirts are screen printed by hand in Northern Ireland on 100% sustainable bamboo fabric.
As soft and comfortable a t-shirt material as you can get, this amazing eco-fabric comes into its own for outdoor activity as a lightweight top or base layer. Fast-wicking and highly breathable, it regulates body temperature while being durable and easily cared for.
Throw it over your bibs and hit the gravel or enjoy super comfort lounging at home (or by the campfire when we can do that again).
Brushed fleece lined 100% organic cotton with ribbed neck, hem and cuffs for durability and comfort. Black Twist and Grey Marl fabrics with raglan sleeves for a vintage feel. Fine quality and planet friendly. "My favourite jumper ever"
And After Lockdown?...
